It is indeed possible to stay in your home even though your lease contract is about to expire. According to the civil code:

“There is force majeure in contractual matters when an event beyond the debtor's control, which could not reasonably have been foreseen at the time of the contract’s conclusion and whose effects cannot be avoided by appropriate measures, prevents the debtor from fulfilling their obligation.”

This law therefore allows individuals to remain in their home given this pandemic situation.

Tenants, whose notice period is expiring, can leave their current home, but as long as the lockdown is in effect, it is not possible for them to move. If tenants cannot move, this obviously raises several questions, particularly regarding the postponement of the notice period. Thus, if a notice period ends in the coming days, will a new notice period need to be planned? Will tenants be able to plan a quick departure from their home?

If the lockdown imposes staying at home except for grocery shopping and medical care, the government has provided an exemption for moves. It is possible to move into your new home.
