The festival season is back. After 2 consecutive years of events canceled due to Covid-19, the largest cities in France will welcome partygoers from all over the mainland during the months of February and March.

From Montpellier to Dunkerque via Nice, preparations are multiplying for the smooth running of the events. 

The Montpellier festival, organized by the WIF association (“West India Family”), is a cultural vector. Much more than just a parade, this Mardi Gras day makes the people of Montpellier vibrate with Caribbean music and dances. Montpel Carnival is 3 themed evenings promoting Afro-Caribbean culture in Montpellier. The festivities take place over 3 days during the weekend from February 17 to February 19. 

Nice, under the theme “The King of Animals”, will thrill the people of Nice, and all those who want to enjoy the event, with its Corso Carnavalesque parade and Battle of Flowers from February 11 to 27. The Nice Carnival is renowned as one of the 3 best Carnivals in the world along with Rio and Venice. It attracts several hundred thousand people. 

Further north in France, the Dunkerque carnival, known for its herring throws and the parade of bands (from Dunkerque, from the Citadel…), will ultimately not take place due to the high incidence rate.
